Licensees

Q: How do I get registered to track my continuing education as a Michigan Real Estate Licensee?
To get started, you will first need to register your account here. To get registered you will need your FULL 10-digit Michigan license number. If you are unsure of your license number, you can look up your license information via the LARA lookup tool (opens in a new window).

In the event you have multiple active individual licenses, you may locate your record with any of the active 10 digit license number you are associated with. Once you have located your information in our system, you can generate a unique registration token to your email address on file to complete the registration process.

If you are not receiving the registration email token, or notice the email address listed in our records is outdated, please contact us using our Contact Form or by phone at 844-642-6633 to get assistance in registering.

If you are a new licensee, your information will be available in our system within the month following your license issue date. Please do not create an account until your individual license number has been added to our records.

Q: Why am I not seeing all of my continuing education credits? I have taken courses that are not appearing in your system.
Only courses that have been certified by CE Marketplace will appear in your account automatically, as these are the only courses that are required to be reported to our system by the course sponsor. Please allow up to 5 business days for CE Marketplace course completions to appear on your record.

If you have taken a course that is not certified by CE Marketplace, you may optionally add these course completions to your tracking record. In any case, you will want to keep your completion certificates in a safe place for up to four years after the current licensing cycle in the event you are audited.

Beginning on November 1st, 2018, continuing education credits will only be eligible for licensing renewals if certified and tracked by CE Marketplace. You will also notice some changes to the layout of CE Marketplace certified course history as the new licensing cycle will only consist of CE Marketplace hours. Self reported credits will no longer be accepted.

Q: Who will track continuing education credits in 2018 and beyond?
As of January 1st, 2015, Michigan Real Estate licensees are now responsible for tracking their own CE credits and providing documentation of course content upon request by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) during an audit inquiry.

CE Marketplace provides for the tracking of continuing education credits for CE Marketplace certified courses along with the ability to self-report courses that have not been CE Marketplace certified at no cost. Although it is not required to self-report your credits to our system, it is recommended as it will expedite your response in the event your continuing education history is audited.

Please remember that in order for continuing education credits to count towards your renewal requirements after the beginning of the new cycle, courses are required to be CE  Marketplace certified. All self-reported credits should be entered no later than December 31st, 2018.

CE Marketplace will certify continuing education courses, track hours for all licensees and – if needed – defend your CE Marketplace certified courses in a license renewal audit. Licensees will be able to verify CE Marketplace certified course credits via their personal login on www.cemarketplace.net.

Q: Which courses will fulfill the legal requirement?
CE Marketplace will review courses submitted for legal certification based upon the requirement set forth by law. Legal courses will be required to involve law, rules and court cases related to real estate. The CE Marketplace certification process will identify and market courses that involve law, rules and court cases regarding real estate for the annual two-hour legal requirement. CE Marketplace certification of a legal course is not required by LARA.

Q: How will I know if I’ve taken the same course twice?
The CE Marketplace certification process assigns a unique identifier to each course. Licensees will be able to log into the database to view which courses they have taken and for how many credit hours. If you complete the same course twice during the same three-year licensing cycle, it cannot count this duplicate credit towards your renewal requirements.

Q: Will there be a cost to licensees to utilize CE Marketplace?

For licensees there will not be a cost to access the CE Marketplace to review their CE Marketplace credit history and track self-reported completions.

Q: Will out-of-state courses qualify for CE credit?

Out of state courses will have to be certified by CE Marketplace, to count towards continuing education credits. They are required to be “relevant to the management, operation and practice of real estate or any other subject that contributes to the professional competence of a licensee or applicant.” CE Marketplace certified course attendance will automatically be uploaded to the system at no cost to the licensee and defended in the event of an audit.

Courses can be submitted to CE Marketplace for certification and inclusion in our tracking system, so that licensees are able to track their earned credits. This is an optional, fee based service for instructors.
